Australian Institute for Infectious Diseases

Melbourne, Victoria

The Australian Institute for Infectious Diseases is a visionary initiative of the University of Melbourne, the Doherty Institute and Burnet Institute (together, known as the Foundation Partners) with backing from the Victorian Government as the Major Supporting Partner.

The AIID facility will be a new globally leading centre for infectious diseases research education and public health and will provide vital facilities and research platforms needed to develop vaccines and treatments for infectious diseases. It contains interdisciplinary research laboratories, high containment facilities, robotic bio-banking, vaccine development facilities, human infection challenge unit, public health facilities, industry partner space and collaborative working spaces scattered throughout to promote cross disciplinary engagement.

With close collaboration and teamwork, Wilson Architects are partnering with Wardle Studio, international workplace specialist Studio O+A, and high containment specialists Perkins & Will, to produce an outcome of distinction.
