British School Jakarta - New Middle School
Jakarta, Indonesia
Set within the lush 18-hectare campus of the British School Jakarta, the new Middle School supports the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for students in Years 7–11. Designed as a bridge between primary and senior learning, the building fosters independence, collaboration, and wellbeing through flexible, light-filled learning spaces.
Wilson Architects’ design draws the tropical landscape deep into the educational experience — shaded outdoor corridors, open courtyards, and adaptable classrooms create a seamless connection between inside and out. Specialist science, art, and technology studios complement informal collaboration zones and quiet study areas, encouraging curiosity and social interaction.
The result is an environment that celebrates the energy of adolescence and the joy of discovery. The Middle School reflects Wilson Architects’ enduring philosophy of designing places where students can learn, connect, and thrive — architecture that nurtures both the individual and the community.
