Social & Affordable Housing

Wilson Architects has built a sustained and meaningful practice in the delivery of social and affordable housing across Queensland.

We understand that these projects carry extraordinary responsibility. Every design decision directly shapes the safety, dignity, and daily experience of people who need it most.

Our approach combines technical rigour with genuine empathy for end users. We consistently deliver outcomes that are sensitive to community context, compliant with complex accessibility standards, and aligned with the program and budget requirements of government and community housing organisations.

Our Expertise

General Social Housing

Our team has delivered a range of social housing projects, from compact apartments to multi-unit developments. Each design focuses on efficient planning, natural light, ventilation and outdoor connection to enhance wellbeing, while meeting program and budget requirements.

Youth Foyers

Our experience includes supported accommodation for young people engaged in education or training. These projects combine private living units with shared facilities, counselling spaces and learning support, providing a safe foundation for independence and opportunity.

Supported Accommodation for Families

We design secure, restorative environments for families facing housing insecurity - including women and children escaping domestic violence. These projects combine self-contained family units with shared play areas, support spaces, and on-site welfare and community services.

Faith-Based Land Projects

We have contributed to projects developed on land leased from faith-based organisations, working collaboratively with community housing providers and supporting government initiatives that deliver affordable homes through enduring community partnerships.
