UQ Biosustainability Hub

Brisbane, Meanjin, Queensland

Located within The University of Queensland’s Andrew N. Liveris Building, the UQ Bio-Sustainability Hub and Queensland Emory Vaccine Centre provide purpose-built research environments for some of Australia's leading scientific research programs.

The facilities bring together advanced laboratories, collaborative workplaces and specialist support spaces for research teams working at the forefront of bio-sustainability, vaccine development and bio-manufacturing. Supporting work that spans sustainable food production, emissions reduction, biodegradable materials and future health outcomes, the project enables complex scientific research to be translated into real-world impact.

Although developed for distinct research communities, the two facilities were designed with a cohesive architectural approach, creating clarity and connection across both levels. Wilson Architects’ design balances the technical demands of scientific research with adaptable, human-centred spaces that support collaboration, discovery and long-term flexibility.
