Tanglin Trust Senior School & STEEEM Innovation Hub
Singapore
Wilson Architects was one of three practices shortlisted to design Tanglin Trust School's new Senior School and STEEEM Innovation Hub. Our entry treats the Senior School as a connected learning ecosystem rather than a standalone building. It is linked by bridge to the Centenary Building and anchors a campus-wide transformation through to 2033.
The building is organised into a shared community base with an Upper Years School (Years 10–11) and a Senior School (Years 12–13) above it. Each school has its own four-storey "Hive" atrium, filled with light and planting, where pastoral staff sit beside the classrooms that open onto it. At the entry, the Institute and Bloomberg Lab make innovation visible from the moment you arrive. Three classroom types cover every subject: flexible rooms with sliding walls that open up for team teaching and exams, linked maker spaces, and science labs served by a dedicated service corridor.
The scheme efficiently reduced the building's area by about 30% and still met the full brief. A naturally ventilating double-skin façade, planted terraces and a roof garden help turn the building into a living lab for sustainability.
